MUST students' Entrepreneurship Bootcamp Day One
MUST students' Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is designed to foster entrepreneurial skills and innovation through training and experiential learning.
On the first day of the MUST Bootcamp Program, Dr. Tumuhimbise Manasseh, the team leader of the MUST/IUC UCOBS Subproject 5, welcomed participants, urging them to be eager and ready to learn during the intensive five-day event. The University Secretary, Mr. Melchior, who gave the opening remarks encouraged participants to focus on creating their own job opportunities instead of waiting until graduation. The keynote speech by University Bursar Mr. Magezi Felix highlighted the importance of seizing this valuable, free opportunity amid high unemployment rates.
The training session began with Dr. Kemigisha Prudence introducing the essentials of entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial process. This was followed by a session on the principles of a good business idea and case studies, where Dr. Prudence and mentors discussed identifying viable business ideas and shared real-world examples. In the afternoon, Joseph and UIRI mentors led a session on opportunity spotting, teaching techniques for market research and identifying market gaps.
Joseph wrapped off the first day by introducing the 50000 UGX Challenge, including its goals, guidelines, and successful previous project examples. This helped to get participants ready for the real-world business exercise that will take place on day two.
